Representation and appeal to target audience
Title
The reason this film magazine cover is called "EMPIRE" is because it sounds very grand connoting that this film magazine beats any other film magazine that is availible in other cinemas and stores. Many significant words have been used on this film magazine cover for example it says "The worlds biggest movie magazine" and also "massive preview special". This links in with the meaning behind the title showing that this magazine is the best one you will come across. The words "biggest" and "massive" have been used to connote a large meaning to connote and emphasise the use of the word "empire" and the meaning behind it. The word "biggest" was used first to catch the audience's attention while afterwards the word "massive" is used to make the audience realise how big it actually is.

Target Audience
The type of readership Empire magazine is targeting is based on a large variety of target audience's. For example the target audience for this Empire magazine issue is a younger audience based on the age and genre of the movie they are showing. It shows that it is mainly shown for males because of the male main character showing the use of violence that the film by showing the blood dripping down his face and also showing the scar from his childhood. Not only does it show violence on the character but it also uses semantics by using violent language such as "bloody". If the audience were wanting to contact Empire Magazine then they are able to acess the website to see if the information on their answers their question or they can email or call the company to find out other information.
Front Cover
The front cover shows the violence that is shown in the movie. Harry Potter is looking at the camera to show the dominance and power he has which is stereotypical for males. His smashed glasses and cuts on the side to show he has power against others which enables him to have no fear. By him having the cuts on his face while he is on his own connotes that he is able to fight his own battles. The front cover features other films that relate to the same genre as Harry Potter.
Style Of Presentation Of The Magazine
By looking at the magazine front cover I have noticed that Harry Potter is the main focus of the front cover. Because the Harry Potter films are well known and also a favourite film of most people this will make them want to read about the new film that is being released. Because of Harry Potter starring the front cover of Empire magazine this automatically makes the magazine look professional because he is not found in films such as independant films. The front cover is presented with many dark colours to show that is is not a bright, happy, girly film. Although is has many reasons to attract the female audience the dark colours have been used to attract the main focus of the male audience by using a dark blue background, blue being the stereotypical male colour.

Film Magazine Covers
This film cover is set out in the middle of the Carribean. This is linked to the semantics of the name of the film which is Pirates of The Carribean. The main character, Captain Jack Sparrow, has been placed in the middle of the magazine cover. His appearance as a character contrasts hugely against the paradise background he is surrounded in. This is because of his dark clothing representing his personality as a pirate against the light blue sky and sea.
By looking at this magazine cover you can see that this film has a mixed target audience. This is because the film may appeal to a younger audience because of the film, pirates. This would mainly appeal to a male audience because of the use of weapsons that have been shown in the cover connoting vioence. It may appeal to an older audience because of the locations that are used throughout the film along with the time that the film has been set in.
The film cover uses different font colours to match texts up. For example at the top of the magazine cover it says "BIGGEST YEAR" meanwhile underneath this texts it has "2011" and some listings of films such as "Captain Jack's All - New Crew!, Sherlock Holmes 2 and Cowboys And Aliens". These are all in the same colour yellow which links all the texts together along with linking to the semantics of golden sand.
This film magazine cover is set out with the three main characters set out in the middle of the screen, this is because it will attract the target audience as they contrast against the misty, dark background. The three characters are set up to almost give away some of the story line, for example Bella clenching onto Jacob meanwhile Edward is unhappily and violently glaring over at them both standing infront of them insisting that he is the man for Bella. There are are main colours that have been focused on in this film magazine cover. The first colour is white, this is because it is representing the vampires cold, white and pale skin that they have. The second colour is red. This has been used to represent blood, this is a semantic of vampires because a lot of violence happens in the film for the vampires need of blood. This may has also been used because Edward describes how nice Bellas blood smells and how it is like his own personal brand of heroine. The dark, misty background represents the first impressions of a vampires personality and the dark danger Bella gets put through. It is set in a dark forest where a lot of scenes of fights take place throughout the film, expecially between the vampires and wolves.
The film magazine cover uses some semantic words. An example of this is moon and trouble. This will link to the film because it is known that wolves come out when there is a full moon linking onto the title "NEW MOON" which is on the front cover of the page meanwhile the word "trouble" hints what will happen with the wolves when there is a full moon out in the evening.
This film magazine cover is full of many different things. In the vast majority of the top page contrasts hugely against the darker colours on the bottom of the page. This is because of the bright, golden fire/explotion behind the main characters of Men In Black 3. The characters are shown in a 1st, 2nd and 3rd order to show the levels of strengh and power. You can see the levels of importance by the use of one of the main characters wearing a suit with a gun in his hand while behind him is the two other main characters and an explostion.
The film magazine cover is very busy connoting that the film is going to be very action packed and chaotic with lots of different things taking place. Along with this at the top of the page it says "summers 20 biggest movies revealed" showing the huge amount of things that are going to take place almost like its about to blow your mind, linking back the the explotion.
Because there is so much happening on this film magazine cover they have used the magazine title "BLOCKBUSTER ISSUE" to seperate the page into two halfs. All of this page links to heros for example at the top of the page it is an unexpected hero because they do not have it visibly shown meanwhile at the bottom of the page there are well known heros showing that they are all going to fight by having "vs" at the bottom of the page.
